I’ve been experimenting with various Content Management Systems (CMS) this past week for the parish’s online publication. But to really test CMS, one must be able to find a free webhost for them. PHP with MySQL for the price of none is getting rare these days. I think I may have found one with FWSH, thanks to the indications given by this guy. So I did get an account at that freewebhost and then proceeded to look for the right CMS. I tried different portal applications for this. PHPNuke and Drupal looked promising. I settled for Drupal since it had two features that I liked a site of mine would have:
- news feed aggregator
- easy module customization
So now I have the Parish On The Web which I hope would get enough hits for me to maintain it. FWSH requires that the website garners at least 500 unique hits a month. I think that if our CatholicWeb service is search engine friendly, then perhaps within a week the Parish On The Web (POW) can get search engine hits that I hope would snowball into 500 a day — just as Blogs.AgustinongPinoy used to have before I “muffled it” (hard on the bandwidth and it attracted a lot of spammers). I really hope that the new website can get a lot of hits, apart from attracting collaborators from our parish. The Drupal installation is a dream.
