PREX Handouts?

{ Tags: , \ May5 }

The Parish Renewal Courses I have participated in both as student and speaker don’t provide handouts for each of the talks. The secretariat does however give prospective speakers a PREX Manual. Last week I tried something new: I gave a handout to the PREX participants for Talk no. 1.

Talk No. 1 is a reflection on the “Journey To Emmaus” and is intended to introduce the whole course to the participants while at the same time encouraging them to take the renewal course seriously. The text from Luke 24 is apt precisely because it illustrates the Christian Life Journey as a journey done with the Lord who meets his disciples along the way and changes their hearts with the Scriptures and the breaking of the bread. What I did was to include an illustration of the journey, highlighting the role of the Scriptures and the Eucharistic meal.

I also prepared Talk No.2 the real first talk of the course and is always the one assigned to me. But in this particular renewal course, I was asked instead to take on the role of the parish priest and deliver the lesson on the two disciples on the way to Emmaus.

I will be making the above materials available for download but only after I have completed some illustrations for the other talks and incorporated them into handouts that reflect the spirit of those talks as found in the PREX manual.

Update: June 2, 2006

The >PDF file for PREX Talks 1 and 2 are now available from this link.. The files are in Filipino and contain the materials I have recently distributed to PREX participants.
