I am supposed to be on a two-week break beginning May 16, but because of a PREX seminar and an event at Maligaya VI, Bgy. San Vicente were scheduled today, I went back to Laguna yesterday.
Our PREX seminar for batch 65 was scheduled for May 6-7, but because of a glitch in parish programming, it was moved to May 20-21. Due to this change in the schedule, the expected 24 participants were reduced to 13. The seminar went on, however, and it gave me a chance to distribute my handouts for Talk No. 2 which deals with the recognition of the Lord as channeled by the apostles. It also gave me a chance to talk about the theme of the recent national convention: “The Church Founded By Jesus”.
In the afternoon, I went over to the Homes-Along-The-Railroad section of the parish. The officers of the homeowners’ association were inducted into office by the Baranggay Captain of San Vicente, Norvic Solidum. It was during this occassion that I met the Baranggay Captain for the first time. Although I’ve heard some “bad” talk about him in the past, I found the Kapitan quite a likeable person.
The program for the induction of officers was quite brief. Intermission numbers were presented by the same children who have been performing in parish events. The atmosphere was familial. There were many who watched the show.
I found the Kapitan’s message interesting. He was quite passionate in his appeal for “mabuting pagsasamahan” which I think can be translated into “community-building”. I was able to get his word that I’d get the assistance I’ll need when I start working on a nearby sitio, Maligaya IV, which was given to our parish just last year.
